All physical work on this topic can be found on page 8 of the black sketchbook, and page 4 of the black backlog.

Western town buildings & amenities:

Please note that some of these buildings would only be found in larger or more developed towns which generated more income and wealth from residents and businesses. This is why I have split them up into these categories:

Rudimentary (1800 - 1830)

  • General Store (minimal stock, food)

  • Rudimentary Bar

Slightly built-up (1831 - 1850)

  • Sheriff's Office

  • Blacksmith

These professions and amenities were needed more and more over time. Since education was scarce, it became a necessity during the later half of the American frontier.

Built-up (Normal, typical) (1851 - 1870)

  • Saloon

  • Hotel

  • Train Station

  • Doctor's Office

  • Bank

  • Undertaker

  • Marshal's Office

  • Gunsmith

  • Church

  • Livery/Stables

Fully developed (1871 - 1911)

  • Jailhouse

  • Schoolhouse

  • Butcher

  • Tailor/Outfitter

  • Telegraph Office

  • Assay Office

  • Courthouse

  • Fully-built Church

Western town buildings & amenities:

10:00 AM

As is the case with the rest of my digital research, this is me putting another piece of research into my sketchbook.

I created a list of Western town buildings and amenities as part of my in-depth Western or American frontier research.

I then typed a new and improved version on Word, and from that (today) I wrote up a better version separating each building to a certain time period.

Some of these amenities would only be found in more developed towns.

I just wanted to demonstrate more of my research.
