Week 2 - 3: All 'Deep-Dive' Questions about My Four 'Deep-Dive' Topics (Circa 07 - 13/10/2019)

Firstly, I set out my four main topics. Then, I asked as many questions as I could about them to create research points to investigate, as had been done in the first workshop session. The answers would provide me with enough material to put into a rich presentation, which I would present to the class.

Here are those questions:

Questions:

1. The American West/Frontier – Simplified, American West

How difficult was day-to-day life?

What was the most manufactured product during this time?

What was considered revolutionary?

What was eaten in a staple diet?

How good (in terms of quality) was medicine at this time?

What states were the most developed/least developed at a given time?

2. Characters in Fiction with Interesting Disabilities – Simplified, Interesting Fictional Disabilities, Physical Disabilities

How did they get these disabilities?

What repercussions do these disabilities have?

How long is the characters lifespan as a result?

What environment do they (the character) live in?

Does a neurochemical or virus cause this disability?

What must be done in order to live with the disability?

What medicine must be used to counteract the disability?

3. Dams

What is the largest dam in the world?

How much does it cost to build and maintain a dam?

What safety measures are put in place to prevent and/or warn surrounding residents of a dam failure?

How much water does the average dam hold?

When did hydroelectricity become a mainstream idea?

What benefits are there to hydroelectricity?

What disadvantages are there?

4. Fight Scenes in the Media

Are any legitimate martial arts being used in the scene?

What inspiration (if any) was used to ‘envision’ the scene?

What kinds of weapons (if any) are being used?

Are there multiple martial arts being used?

Think about the suspense before the fight itself, if any (Kill Bill Vol. 2 Church Scene)

Look into the subject from a broader stroke of the words ‘Fight scene’

What kind of realism are you trying to portray?

The best fight scenes clearly display tension and emotion between the characters involved

Music usually really makes most impact, but both action and music must be in balance for it to work

Sound FX

What camera angles are being used? Do they change throughout the fight?

Is it CQC or some other type of combat?

Feeling of the scene itself?

Consider the pace and timing of the scene

Consider originality
